Uzziel (the flower maker)
Adina (the woman he loves)
Débora (Adina´s sister)
Zádoc (Uzziel helper)
Judith (Zadoc´s mother)
Jemima (Adina´s mother)
Tally (Jemima´s protégé handmaiden)
> Uzziel works lonely in a stripped off place. A light beam falls significantly over his head. A white rose emerges miraculously from his hands.
I´m a flower maker
None of them is identical to other
Tell me the name of who you´re thinking
And what he´s done to you
To him will return
Just what we deserve, everyone will get.
> Uzziel gives the rose to Zadoc and he in a rush goes to the bridge and hands it over to Tally, who tries to pay him. Zadoc refuses to receive the money. Tally parts, staring at the flower.
I get nothing for creating
I don´t want Money
The providential, the necessary
To my home will go
A little silence and my faith that won´t break
And I will get what I need an else.
> Adina, at home, approaches to her small garden where rose bushes are dry. Uzziel stares at her from the dreamy distance.
But isn´t she in that alm?
How many more nights her voice I shall dream?
For her I would make the perfect rose, still…
If no one asks me I cannot create it
For I am only a servant.
> Judith and Jemima find themselves in another space.
Jemima: So beautiful traditions should be regained.
Judith: A Shabat dinner with family…
Jemima: …meeting each other.
Judith: Our sons have grown up together.
Jemima: So in this Shabat let´s give them the best of us.
Ambas: They will know the true rest.
Jemima: Bring the wine…
Judith: …if you bring the bread.
> Tally makes it to the garden at Jemima´s house and sees Deborah getting out of there.
Tally: Deborah I have my rose, soon it will travel beyond the sea, to that dear aunt who has done so much for me…
Deborah: A gift for an aunt you don´t know? You barely even receive her letters!
Tally: But thanks to them I know who my parents were and I know there´s a far away land which seems to be the one that was promised to us.
Deborah (sighs distracted): Everyone dreams about a land of their own, but today I need something else, I have a plan, I’m like a bee during spring.
> Zadoc, who is still in the bridge, is surprised when his mother Judith arrives, looking for him visibly anxious.
Zadoc (with certain shock): Mother!
Judith: What a proudly son! Zadoc, you don’t have that name for no reason. You deliver the form of fairness in the colour and smell of this roses. Where will they travel to? It doesn’t matter, what matters is what they did with you there. But today you won´t deliver anything. Nightfall is coming and the Shabat is about to begin. Let´s go, I need your help. Today we´ll meet with Jemima´s family and celebrate according to the traditions, the wine has to be on the table to be blessed. You go find it and go home soon. Your work is over for today.
> Tally and Deborah in the garden at Jemima´s house.
Deborah: Have you seen Zadoc?
Tally: Yes, he gave me the rose.
Deborah: And did he say something to you?
Deborah: The poor guy dies for me. He wants me to ask him for a red rose. But… before, he should give me a proof of his love, and i will enjoy asking him for an impossible mission.
Tally: A mischief…?
Deborah: …but a necessary one!
Tally: You will find him at the bridge.
Deborah: Here I go. (Exits)
